  • Frequently Asked Questions

    1. What is this??
    A. This is a place where you can bid via auction to own your favorite number instantaneously (just kidding, 15 seconds-ish corresponding to stochastic block time) on Ethereum's blockchain. The ownership will directly be displayed below each number for everyone to see that you've been the boss of that number. Note that the website reads firsthandedly from Ethereum's blockchain itself in an automatic fashion, which means as long as the Ethereum blockchain is live, the proof of your ownership will also be live.

    2. How do I own a number??
    A. Please use MetaMask (extension for Chrome browser) or Mist to allow communication between your account and the Ethereum blockchain. We're on Rinkeby test network! After you've configured correctly, you can bid x amount of ETH (where x starts from 0.001 and so on) to own a number. Note if someone bids higher than you did after you bought a number, then you'll lose ownership and get your ETH back, which you'll be able to retrieve from the Withdraw section of the website. Conversely, if you want to own a number that is owned by someone else already, then you'll have to bid higher in order to obtain ownership.

    3. Why would I own a number??
    A. Because they're awesome stuff. Go for it! Not only do they drive our daily lives, they have driven the history of mankind. The Pythagorean people, for instance, have even killed a man (supposedly), just because of square root of two. Prime numbers and modular arithmetic have fueled cryptography. Imaginary numbers, transcendental numbers, Bernoulli numbers, etc. all of them impact our lives in some way. Aren't politics, business, economy, and money all about simple number games in the end? :o

    4. Is there a white paper??
    A. Nope.

    5. Is there a yellow paper??
    A. Nope.

    6. Is there a blue paper??
    A. Sure.

    7. What's an example of a cool number??
    A. Seven is pretty cool, and that's why the FAQ stops here.
